A controversial statute up for renewal by Congress and the President has once again reignited the passionate pleas and calls to let it die, though howbeit is most expectedly set to pass again.
The act itself claims to not be spying on Americans domestically, but by allowing federal government agencies to database all foreign communications, thus providing them a loophole to spy on Americans and collect their personal data.
