Comment: Perspective is everything. At the surface level keep in mind the Obama, Biden and Hillary administration overthrew a democratically elected Ukrainian Government and installed a corrupt (remember Hunter Biden) government that seemed to be at least partially Nazi. This corrupt government has since engaged in attacks with Donetsk and Luhansk, two Ukrainian regions that border Russia and are largely Russian because they wanted to leave Ukraine because they wanted no parts of this fiasco. Crimea voted to leave in 2015ish.
How many millions of Russians died (25 million?) from the Nazi's in WWII? Putin knows history and is not going to allow this to continue, and feels he can win. Putin states, from the article:
He ended his speech with remarks that seems aimed directly at the US and NATO: "To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside: if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history. All relevant decisions have been taken. I hope you hear me." Russia has been planning for this for a long time.
America should have stood up to this Ukrainian corruption, but we did not as we helped to create it. Obama, Hillary and Biden created this situation in 2014. Hunter Biden appears to have played a role as well so we should not have expected them to stop this correction. To be fair, both sides of the political fence in this country allowed this Ukrainian situation to develop. Just look at how authoritarian Western Governments have become, many are acting like the Nazi's did in the 1930's.
This all reminds me of in the Old Testament, when one of the prophets cried out for justice, but then was stunned that God would use an evil nation to administer that justice on Israel. Russia is now administering justice. If Russia be evil, God will deal with Russia later.
And this is the question: Is God using Russia to administer justice? If yes, then I would just humble myself. If not, go ahead and fight.
